DHTML Menu Studio FAQ

Question ID:
Q3017
Question:
I have generated a menu with frames. The popups no longer appear in the correct frame after I choose an item from the menu.

This problem occurs only when displaying popups in a different frame and when you choose an item linked to an external web site (that is, a web page from a different domain). This is a standard security feature of web browsers preventing scripts from accessing web pages located on external domains. Prior to version 2.5 of DMS, the only solution was a work-around which would open these external links in a new browser window. To do this, you need to set the 'target frame' property of every external item to '_blank' (you will find this property in the 'Item Properties' window). Please note: you don't have to do this for menu items linked to the same domain.
Starting from version 2.5 of DMS, if the frame where the popups should appear comes from a different domain, the popups simply appear in the top-level menu frame. If this solution is not sufficient, you'll still need to open external links in a new window.
