FollowUpXpert can import prospect records from tab-delimited and comma-separated text files. Read this section to find out more: Supported Data Formats.
After bringing up the “Prospects” tab, click the “Import” button. Click “Text file” and “OK”. Browse to the file you want to import, select the file and click “Open”.
If the names of the columns are in the first row click “Yes”, otherwise click “No”.
Now we need to map columns to corresponding fields. To map a field, select it and click “Map Column” or simply double-click it. You can map as many columns as you like. Any columns that are not mapped are ignored.
The least you must do at this point is select a column and map it to the email address field. In order to do this, double-click a column containing email addresses, click “Email address” and “OK”.
After you have mapped the columns click “Import”.
If the file contains duplicate email addresses, the program will ask you what to do about this (overwrite an existing prospect record, or ignore the duplicate). Regardless of what you choose, the prospects database will contain only unique email addresses. I will repeat: under no circumstances the prospects database can end up with duplicate email addresses.
If you plan to import the file in the future, you can use the “Load” and “Save” buttons to save the import configuration (field mapping) to a file on your hard disk. |
