Replying Using Sequential Autoresponder

Top  Previous  Next

You can use the sequential autoresponder to reply to incoming messages as well. Because you can only respond to messages the autoresponder interprets as opt-in and opt-out requests, you usually configure the autoresponder to send replies in the opt-in/opt-out context. For instance, you may want to say a welcome message when someone opts-in and an opt-out message when somebody else opts out.

Use the “Reply with a message” check box of the “Opt-In” tab to send back a reply when someone opts-in. Note that if someone is already in the prospects database no reply will be sent and no action taken even if he or she sends a request to be added to the database again. Read the section entitled Opt-In and Opt-Out with a Sequential Autoresponder for more details. Also, if double opt-in is used, the reply message is sent after the autoresponder receives a reply to the confirmation message.

To send a reply when a prospect sends a request to be removed from the prospects database, use the “Reply with a message” check box located on the “Opt-Out” tab. The reply is only sent if the email address is in the prospects database; otherwise no action is taken.
