Responding to Messages

Previous Topic  Next Topic

Create an autoresponder if you need an “answering machine” for your email account; a phone answering machine answers incoming calls while an autoresponder responds to emails that people send to you.

An example of this kind of autoresponder is one that replies to all emails sent to you with a message that says: “I am out of office right now” or "I'm on vacation". Another example is a special email address to which your website visitors can send a blank message to receive a special report or additional information related to your products or services.

An autoresponder is not limited to answering emails sent directly by people; it can be linked to a web form on your website (see Working with Web Forms and Text Extraction). For instance, you can create a form anyone can fill out to request additional information about your special offers.

As you can see, all these examples have one thing in common; an autoresponder works by sending predefined replies to incoming emails.
