Web Site Navigation Manager (WNM)
Web Site Navigation Manager is a very powerful tool which automates creation af advanced navigation schemes.
It is especially helpful when you want to:
- Insert more than one output object (e.g. menu, dynamic tree, search engine) into a web page.
- Insert an output object into multiple web pages.
- Insert an output object into existing web page (or multiple web pages).
- Insert, modify, or remove custom HTML code from existing web pages
- Perform a combination of all of the above functions (e.g. insert multiple output objects into multiple web pages).
Web Site Navigation Manager also features scheduled generation. This allows for periodical, fully automated
creation of navigation schemes which reflect changes in either of the following:
- Input XML document
- File and directory structure of the web site
- Navigation structure of the web site
You can run WNM from within SiteXpert (Tools menu) or from Windows' Start Menu.

Fig 1. Web Site Navigation Manager's main window
WNM's main window consists of:
- Output pages - This is a list of all output pages in current document.
Output page can represent a new single web page, a group of new new pages, or a group of existing web pages.
In all three cases, WNM inserts objects generated by SiteXpert and other custom HTML code into these output pages.
- Available output objects - This is a list of output objects (e.g. menu, dynamic tree, search engine) represented
by SiteXpert document files (.sx files). Each output object defines the style generated by SiteXpert (e.g. menu, search engine)
and its graphical settings such as colors, fonts and style-specific settings.
- Used output objects - This is a list of output objects which will be embedded in currently selected output page.
You can use the up/down
arrows below this list to insert/remove output objects to it. You can only insert output objects already added to the available
output objects list. To determine exactly how/where the output object will be embedded in the selected output page, double-click
the output page to go to page properties, and add a new insertion rule.

rules.
- Available data sources - This is a list of data sources (or, in other words, layout from SiteXpert) represented
by SiteXpert document files (.sx files). Each data source defines the data that will be used to create an output object, e.g. items
in the menu or URLs to be indexed by the search engine.
- Used data sources - This is a list of data sources which will be used in currently selected output object.
You can use the up/down
arrows below this list to insert/remove data sources to it. You can only insert data sources already added to the available
data sources list. Please note that adding more than one data source to an output object allows cretion of a larger structure
consisting of many data sources. This is especially useful when creating a navigation scheme of a few different domains.
- Log window - This is a log window which shows progress/errors encountered during generation of output pages.
Other WNM topics:
Output page properties - Describes the output page properties window
Scheduled generation - Describes scheduled generation feature.
Output settings - Describes output settings, such as FTP upload options and directories for images,
scripts, includes, CGI scripts.
