Scheduled Generation

Fig 1. Scheduled generation properties window

In the scheduled generation window you can set up WNM's scheduler to periodically update data sources by running SiteXpert's Layout Wizard as well as update and upload output pages. This feature makes it possible to fully automate the process of periodical creation of navigation schemes which reflect changes in either of the following:

Scheduled generation will first update (by running SiteXpert's Layout Wizard and saving the results) all data sources specified in the "Updated data sources" list. Then, scheduled generation will update output pages specified in the list "Updated output pages". Scheduled generation uses all settings saved in .sx files (when updating data sources) and settings of output pages defined in WNM.

Please note: It's possible to use an external scheduler (e.g. Windows' built-in scheduler) to update a Website Navigation Manager project. The advantage of this solution is that you don't need to keep WNM open at all times. Another advantage is that you can have more than one WNM project updated periodically. To use this feature, simply start WNM with the '/g' command-line argument, e.g.: wnm.exe /g c:\WWW\WebSites\my_project.wnm This feature will work just like WNM's scheduler, that is, it will first update all data sources and then all output pages added to the lists in the 'Scheduled Generation' dialog.
